The quantity of eating required to be obligated in a final blessing (from "Daily Halacha" by the rulings of our master Rabbi Ovadia Yosef of blessed memory):

For anything a person eats, a "first blessing" must be recited, such as the blessing "Shehakol" or "Ha'etz". Even if one eats only a small amount of that food, a blessing is required, as long as it is eaten for eating's sake. (But if one only tastes it to correct it by adding seasoning, no blessing on that eating is required at all). Therefore, one who chews flavored chewing gum, even if they swallow very little of it, must recite a blessing on the enjoyment of the gum's taste. Similarly, anyone who drinks something must recite a blessing even if they intend to drink just a single drop of the beverage.

However, this only applies to the initial blessing; a final blessing is only recited when one has consumed a "significant eating", which for food is the measure of a "kazayit", or 27 grams, and for drinks, the measure is a "revi'it", which is 81 grams.

Furthermore, the eating or drinking must occur within a timeframe where the consumption is connected. For example, if one eats a "kazayit" of bread over an entire day, crumb by crumb, they certainly cannot recite the Grace After Meals. Instead, the consuming of the "kazayit" must all occur within the timeframe of "eating a pras", and there is debate among decisors on how long this period is, with some saying it is five minutes and others seven and a half minutes (with additional opinions existing). Therefore, it is best to be cautious and always consume a kazayit (especially during Shabbat meals) within four and a half minutes to fulfill all opinions.

Regarding a final blessing on a drink, one must drink a revi'it of the beverage (81 grams) in one go; if there is an interruption between sips, no blessing is recited afterward. Therefore, one who drinks soup with a spoon does not recite a final blessing on that soup, as they did not drink a revi'it in one go. Similarly, one who drinks coffee or tea while hot does not recite a final blessing on them because one cannot drink it in one go.
