Amount of consumption to require a final blessing (from "Halacha Yomit" of the teachings of Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l):

Over anything a person eats, they must recite a "first blessing," such as the blessing of "Shehakol" or "Ha'etz." Even if one only eats a small amount, a blessing is required, as long as it is consumed with the intent to eat. (However, if one only tastes the food to add spices or similar purposes, a blessing is not necessary at all for such tasting.) Therefore, someone who chews flavored chewing gum, even if they swallow only a minute amount, must recite a blessing for the enjoyment of the gum's taste. Similarly, anyone who takes a drink should bless it even if they consume only a drop of that beverage.

However, this applies specifically to the first blessing, but the final blessing is only recited when one has eaten a "significant quantity." A significant amount is defined as a "k'zayit," which is twenty-seven grams, and for liquids, the amount is a "reviit," which is eighty-one grams.

Additionally, the eating or drinking must occur within a time frame that allows for the quantities to connect. If someone eats a "k'zayit" of bread over an entire day, crumb by crumb, they certainly cannot recite the grace after meals. Instead, the "k'zayit" amount must be consumed within the time frame known as "K'dei Achilat Pras," with differing opinions on its exact duration, with some saying it is five minutes and others suggesting seven and a half minutes (and there are other views as well). Therefore, it is best to always eat a "k'zayit" (especially at Shabbat meals) within four and a half minutes to conform to all opinions.

Regarding the final blessing for a drink, one must consume a reviit of the beverage (which is eighty-one grams) in one go. If one drinks and pauses between sips, no final blessing is recited. Therefore, someone who eats soup with a spoon does not recite a final blessing for drinking that soup, as they did not drink a reviit in one go. Likewise, someone who drinks coffee or tea when it is hot does not recite a final blessing, as they cannot drink it all at once.
