The Doctors Pushed for Abortion—But a Dream Changed Everything
Frightening test results, painful decisions, and one powerful dream that gave us hope when we needed it most.

#VALUE!
Our miracle is a very great miracle for us, and we wanted to share it with Am Yisrael—the Jewish people—so that others might see how great Hashem truly is. I’ll briefly tell our story.
About seven years ago, I was expecting our youngest son.
At 14 weeks, I went in for an ultrasound. The doctor told me that our baby had cysts in the brain’s ventricles, which could point to serious issues. He didn’t go into detail but referred us to genetic counseling. That led to a series of tests, including one later on for fetal protein levels—and those results didn’t look good either.
We were filled with fear. The worry weighed on us heavily—and not just us, but our whole extended family too. Then, one night, I had a dream. I saw a rabbi in it, and someone told me it was Rabbi David Batzri. Now, I had heard of a Kabbalist named Rabbi Batzri, but I didn’t know his first name or what he even looked like. The next day, I looked him up online—and to my surprise, the man from my dream matched the pictures exactly.
I turned to my husband and said, “We need to go to him for a blessing.” He agreed, and we set up an appointment.
When we arrived, I saw that the rabbi had a large binder filled with handwritten letters from mothers. These were stories of babies the doctors had told them to abort—yet they had gone on to become beautiful, healthy children. I suddenly understood with deep clarity that Hashem had sent us to Rabbi Batzri for a reason.
The rabbi gave us a blessing and told us with certainty: “The child will be born healthy and complete.” We also consulted with the Puah Institute, which provides halachic (Jewish law) and medical guidance to couples, and got permission to do an amniocentesis. Then we waited—anxiously—for the results.
The night before the results arrived, I had another dream. This time, Rabbi Batzri appeared again and told me: “Everything is fine. The baby is healthy. Go buy clothes for him.” The dream felt so real and reassuring. The next morning, I went out and bought a little onesie and a pair of socks. That afternoon, we got the results in the mail—and they were good.
But the story didn’t end there.
As the pregnancy progressed, the doctors became more and more concerned. They told us the fetus’s head wasn’t growing properly. Again, they strongly advised termination. At week 37, a senior doctor at Bikur Cholim Hospital told me outright: “You should terminate. It’s still legal at this stage. You can worry about the religious side of things afterward.”
We were under terrible pressure. We didn’t stop davening (praying), giving tzedakah (charity), visiting the graves of tzaddikim (righteous people), and seeking brachot (blessings) from gedolim (great Torah sages). We were exhausted from the fear. We already had a son and a daughter at home—and people around us said things like, “Why take the risk? You have a healthy family. Why ruin that?”
The day before the birth, I went in for another ultrasound. This time they said the baby was missing a hand. But when a senior expert was called in for a second opinion, he found the hand. It was there.
And then, by Hashem’s endless kindness and mercy—we had a completely healthy baby. Today, that baby is a bright, kind, and talented first grader.
All the doctors’ warnings and harsh predictions? They melted away, as if they had never existed.
We’re not saying the doctors were wrong. We believe the power of tefillah (prayer), emunah (faith), and bitachon (trust in Hashem) turned everything around. That’s the real miracle.
