Lost in the Fields, Found by Hashem

"What would have happened if I had encountered a hot-headed Arab instead of the kind man who helped me?" This chilling thought crossed Revital Magan’s mind after she lived through a frightening but miraculous experience near Beit Shemesh, one that left her heart overflowing with gratitude to Hashem.

It began as an ordinary workday. Revital had been sent by her job to attend a meeting in Moshav Lachish. The meeting went smoothly, and afterward, the group was taken on a tour of abandoned fields near Moshav Beit Guvrin to learn about water purification.

“Right after the tour, while my colleagues stayed behind to ask questions, I said goodbye and got into my car to head home.”

But just minutes into her drive on a rocky, unpaved road, her car got stuck in thick mud. To make things worse, her phone battery was down to five percent, and her car charger wasn’t working. “A great miracle happened,” she recalls. “Despite everything, the battery somehow lasted for the next four hours, exactly the time I needed it most.”

Alone in a deserted area with no reception and no idea how to get out, Revital began to pray. “I found myself speaking to Hashem over and over, begging for help. I didn’t see a soul around and had no idea how anyone would even find me.”

Then, suddenly, a man appeared. He was an Arab worker from the area, and he immediately helped her get the car out of the mud. She thanked him warmly as he walked away only to realize too late that she hadn’t asked him the most important question: How do I get out of this place?

By then, she was too deep into the abandoned fields to retrace her steps, and no one from her group was in sight. The navigation app on her phone didn’t work because there was no signal, so she called the police. A patrol officer from the moshav answered and urgently warned her not to drive further.

“He told me the area was filled with landmines and continuing could be life-threatening,” she says. “I didn’t know what to do. I was overwhelmed. I started to cry.”

As the sun began to set, she knew she was running out of time. “If I didn’t get out soon, I’d be stuck here alone in the dark,” she remembers.

So she turned again to the only One who could help. “I poured my heart out to Hashem. I said, ‘Whatever is meant to happen let it be. I accept everything with love.’ The words came naturally, flowing from a place deep inside. And in that moment, I could almost feel Hashem’s arms holding me. I truly felt He was with me.”

And then, another miracle.

Out of nowhere, a Border Police patrol jeep appeared and began driving toward her. “At that moment, I knew my tefillah (prayer) had been accepted. I was filled with relief and joy. The officers guided me safely out of the field, and with Hashem’s kindness, I made it back to the main road.”

Later, as she replayed everything that had happened, she saw clearly how each moment had been guided by divine providence. The phone battery. The kind Arab man. The safe drive forward. The sudden appearance of the patrol jeep.

When she told her sister-in-law, a police officer in the Border Police call center what had happened, she was shocked. “Only then did I understand how much danger I had been in,” Revital says. “I had entered an area surrounded by Arab villages that are known to be hostile to Jews.”

That’s when the thought hit her: What if, instead of an older man, a younger Arab with different intentions had found her?

“I know the outcome could have been very different. But Hashem sent me the right person, at the right moment, and protected me every step of the way.”

Her story is a powerful reminder of the many hidden miracles Hashem does for each of us every single day. “We just need to open our eyes and be grateful,” Revital says. “Because truly, nothing in life should ever be taken for granted.”
