IDF and ISA forces overnight eliminated the terrorist who carried out Monday evening’s ramming attack near Chevron, ending an hours-long pursuit that began after he struck a female IDF soldier at Tzomet Yehuda (Judea Junction). The soldier was lightly wounded and evacuated to the hospital.
The attack heightened tension in the Chevron–Kiryat Arba area, where security officials report repeated attempts by terrorists to target Israeli soldiers and civilians along Route 35. Monday night’s strike prompted an immediate search as forces worked to prevent the terrorist from escaping deeper into Chevron. The road between Tzomet Ha’okeif and Tzomet Tarkumia was temporarily closed, causing heavy traffic along Route 35.
According to the IDF, “a short while ago, IDF soldiers were dispatched to the area of Judea Junction following a report that was received regarding a ramming attack. The soldiers responded with fire” The military added, “IDF soldiers are conducting extended searches after the terrorist, details to follow.”
The IDF said that “following the report that was received regarding a ramming attack at Judea Junction, a terrorist accelerated in his vehicle toward IDF soldiers, and injured a female IDF soldier. The soldier was evacuated to the hospital to receive medical treatment, and her family has been notified.”
Troops fired at the vehicle and identified a hit. “The soldiers responded with live fire toward the terrorist, a hit was identified, and a pursuit after him has begun. The soldiers are conducting extended searches and are setting up roadblocks in the area in order to locate the terrorist.”
In a joint overnight announcement, the IDF and ISA said: “After carrying out the terror attack yesterday evening (Monday) at the Judea Junction—in which the terrorist accelerated his vehicle toward IDF soldiers, injuring a female IDF soldier and fleeing—the security forces conducted a joint, intelligence-based pursuit after the terrorist.”
The statement continued: “Overnight, the terrorist was identified in the Chevron area by the security forces while inside the vehicle he used to carry out the attack. During the apprehension attempt, the terrorist attempted to flee while endangering the forces, who responded with live fire and eliminated the terrorist.”
Security forces said they are maintaining operations in the area. “The security forces will continue to operate to thwart terrorism in the area, and against anyone who harms or attempts to cause harm to Israeli civilians and the security forces.”
