Former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was evacuated Sunday morning to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after being found semi-conscious at her home in Ramat Hasharon.
Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene treated her and transported her to the hospital’s emergency department. Authorities are examining whether she had taken a large quantity of sleeping pills. Hospital officials said her condition is not life-threatening.
Ichilov Hospital confirmed in a statement that “the former Military Advocate General was brought this morning to the emergency medicine department at Ichilov. Medical teams are currently assessing her condition.”
The hospitalization comes two days after the discovery of Tomer-Yerushalmi’s mobile phone near Tel Aviv’s northern coast, following a week-long disappearance that prompted extensive police and military searches. Her phone was found Friday morning about one kilometer north of the Tzuk Beach area, where police divers and volunteers had previously concentrated efforts.
According to a police source, an initial examination by the Cyber Unit of the Israel Police Investigations and Intelligence Division confirmed that the device belonged to Tomer-Yerushalmi. Investigators are checking whether any data was deleted before the phone was thrown into the water and what actions were performed on the device. The source said it may take several days to reach conclusive findings. “The former Military Advocate General did provide us with the code to her phone during her arrest,” the source added.
The phone was reportedly found powered on and partially submerged in the water. The civilian who discovered it said she had been swimming near the shore when she noticed an object that looked like a phone. “When I found the phone it was off. I turned it on to see who it belonged to and saw the picture of the Military Advocate General on the lock screen,” she told N12. She later turned the device over to police officers at the scene.
Police are continuing to analyze the phone’s contents as part of the broader investigation linked to the leak of footage from the Sde Teiman detention facility. The case centers on the alleged abuse of a Palestinian detainee by reservists from “Unit 100,” who, according to the indictment, stabbed, dragged, and beat the prisoner, causing internal injuries. The video of the incident, leaked in August 2024, became a key piece of evidence in the ongoing prosecution.
After the footage was made public, a petition was filed to the Supreme Court demanding an investigation into the leak. The Military Advocate General’s Office responded that it had carried out an internal review but could not determine who was responsible. Then last month, during a routine Shin Bet polygraph test for an employee of the Military Prosecution, suspicions emerged that the leak may have been approved by Tomer-Yerushalmi herself. The findings were passed on to the IDF Chief of Staff and the Attorney General, who ordered a criminal investigation.
Tomer-Yerushalmi was then suspended from her role and resigned last week. She was later detained for questioning and released to house arrest on Friday.
Her condition remained stable Sunday, as doctors continued to monitor her at Ichilov Hospital.
