#VALUE!
Whether it lasts a few minutes or several hours, whether it's from a cold or stress, one thing is certain – headaches can really mess with our routine. If you're dealing with headaches and looking for natural relief, try these methods and, *b'ezrat Hashem*, feel better soon:
Herbal Infusion
Prepare calming infusions from herbs like ginger, za'atar leaves, lemon, turmeric, lavender, chamomile, marjoram, flaxseed, and rosemary, which can positively impact blood flow and help soothe headaches. Steep a generous amount of the herb in a cup of hot water for a few minutes and drink.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar can significantly relieve headaches resulting from fatigue and stress. To alleviate the pain, put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it all. If you find the vinegar taste off-putting, add a teaspoon of honey to the drink or pour half a cup of apple cider vinegar into a pot with boiling water, cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam.
Almonds
Eat a few almonds, preferably the ones you've soaked in water for a few hours, with their skins. Almonds help with blood flow and provide relief from pain.
Potatoes and Cucumbers
To overcome a nagging headache, try using potatoes. Place slices of potato or cucumber on your forehead and temples, secure them with a scarf so they don't fall off, and lay down like this for about fifteen minutes. Alternatively, you can use fresh cucumber instead of potato.
Water
Sometimes, dehydration can lead to severe headaches, so drinking water can ease a headache. Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking enough water or herbal infusions.
Coffee
Some individuals report that drinking espresso at the onset of a headache provides relief.
Compress for the Head
A compress to the forehead can boost blood flow in the area and alleviate the pain. Soak a towel in water and place it on your forehead. You can also simply use a headband or a scarf wrapped around your forehead, either dry or wet, ensuring it's snug but not too tight. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes.
Avoid Dairy Products
Some people claim that avoiding dairy products helps them deal with headaches.
Head Cover
During a headache, it is advisable to avoid wearing tight hats or wrapping scarves too tightly.
Sleep
Make sure to get enough and regular sleep. Fatigue can intensify headaches. If the pain has already started, try to rest a bit to let the headache pass.
Head Pressure
You can reduce the pain in a few minutes with simple pressure techniques on the head. Place the middle finger of one hand where your eyebrows meet above the nose, and the middle finger of the other hand at the base of the skull, where it meets the neck. Press both points together for about ten seconds and release. Repeat this process several times until you feel relief.
Psalms for Headache
A spiritual remedy for headaches is to read Psalm 3 with full intention:
(1) A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son. (2) Hashem, how numerous are my enemies; many rise up against me. (3) Many say of my soul, there is no salvation for him in Hashem. *Selah*. (4) But you, Hashem, shield me, my glory, and the one who lifts my head. (5) I cry out to Hashem with my voice, and He answers me from His holy mountain. *Selah*. (6) I lay down and slept; I awoke, for Hashem sustains me. (7) I will not fear ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. (8) Arise, Hashem, save me, my God, for you have struck all my enemies on the cheek, you have broken the teeth of the wicked. (9) Salvation belongs to Hashem, your blessing is upon your people. *Selah*.
