#VALUE!
The Shabbat meal has ended and you want to change the tablecloth for a clean one. You spread one tablecloth and decide instead to use the new one you bought last week. You take off the tablecloth and - wait a minute... May one refold the clean tablecloth and replace it in the closet?
The answer is:
According to Ashkenazi ruling - it is forbidden to fold the tablecloth along its creases. However, one may fold the tablecloth while taking care not to do so along the fold lines. After Shabbat, one may refold it according to its creases.
According to Sephardic ruling - according to the letter of the law, one may refold the cloth along the fold lines as one does not intend to actively press the cloth and reinforce the creases, but only to prevent it tablecloth from wrinkling. However, those who are stringent in this matter will be blessed.
In summary -
For Sephardim - it is permitted to fold along the fold lines, and those who are stringent will be blessed.
For Ashkenazim - one should not fold along the fold lines, but it is permitted to fold not along the fold lines.
