The body is programmed to detoxify, provided we don't disrupt it. Simultaneously, we must also heal the ailing soul.

Spiritual wellness is innate to us as creations of Hashem. "Since maintaining a healthy and sound body is among the paths of Hashem..." (Rambam, Hilchot De'ot 4:1). The spiritual health discussed in this article isn't about the body but rather about the soul, consciousness, and life perspective, which in turn affects physical health. The spirit influences the material.
King Solomon wrote the Book of Remedies, which documented the spiritual benefits of various plants for each ailment. However, Hezekiah, Solomon's descendant, hid the book because he foresaw, with prophetic vision, that people would rely on the book’s medical advice and neglect the personal effort necessary for true healing. It can be a serious challenge to change a single attribute, like overcoming anger or strengthening faith. It’s easier to rely on a plant or vitamin.
Today, instead of working hard on these inner aspects and preparing themselves for a better world, people often choose easier alternatives, such as taking vitamins, medicinal herbs, detoxifying, exercising, or undergoing various treatments. I don't discredit these approaches—they definitely improve and aid health—but they aren't the ultimate goal for a Jew, and they don't address the root of diseases, which are the wounds within the soul. The purpose of an individual is to work on their soul with the tools given by the Creator, not to live a lie. Inner work can't be replaced by anything else.
We all carry toxins from various sources. They can be cleaned, naturally, and the body is designed to do so if we don't interfere. However, it's equally important to heal the ailing soul through an awakening from within. We must take responsibility for our lives, mend our souls, listen to our hearts, live with forgiveness for ourselves and others, and behave according to the Torah's principles. Our sacred texts instruct us on what to do and how to do it. The source of our internal vitality lies within us, bringing complete healing to the entire body. By connecting with our spiritual essence, understanding its language, and acting from there, we will surely be healthier. This requires deep contemplation of our thoughts, speech, and actions, and turning to Hashem in times of need.
