The Rambam, in the Laws of Behavior Chapter 4, wrote: "Since having a healthy and whole body is one of the ways of Hashem, as one cannot understand or acquire knowledge when they are ill, a person must distance themselves from things that destroy the body and adopt practices that make and restore health."

The Rambam teaches us that food rich in vitamins and minerals nourishes the body, giving it strength and health, and it even serves as a healing method. This is essential for us to stay healthy for serving Hashem.

Interestingly, Hippocrates, the first physician in the Western world, also said that food is the best medicine for humans.

It is crucial to consume foods rich in micronutrients because they are the building blocks of healthy DNA, including vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, found in spinach, carrots, red peppers, lentils, white beans, mushrooms, eggs, fish oil, sardines; essential minerals such as magnesium found in almonds, oats, bananas, and tofu, and zinc found in pumpkin seeds. All of these are vital for the ongoing maintenance of the DNA's repair mechanisms.

Today, it's apparent that the benefits of whole foods surpass those of a single vitamin or mineral component, as shown by epidemiological studies across global populations.

Certain foods have healing properties, and here are some of them:

Berries Juice – Includes cherries, strawberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and red grapes. The juice is rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols, which act as strong antioxidants that protect the DNA. You can make a smoothie with a little water, a tablespoon of almond butter, and a tablespoon of chia seeds for a nourishing and satisfying drink.

The Kiwi – This fruit has a significant impact on reducing DNA damage. It contains a high concentration of vitamin C, chlorogenic acid, and quinic acid, which have antioxidant effects and neutralize free radicals.

Carrots – Carrot juice or orange soup is a great choice, not only for its good taste. Carrots live up to their healthy reputation. They are rich in biologically active compounds called "carotenoids," which also contribute to DNA repair and prevent cell damage.

Broccoli – A cancer fighter. Researchers found that broccoli contains "glucoraphanin" compounds, which protect DNA and serve as a powerful antioxidant. Broccoli speeds up the elimination of estrogen from the body. It is antiviral, ulcer protective, and a source of chromium, which helps regulate insulin and blood sugar.

May everyone, with Hashem's help, enjoy good health.
