Are Your Sleep Issues Linked to Your Cell Phone?

Over the past year, I've noticed an increase in sleep issues among friends, clients, and many others seeking advice. This article sheds light on one potential cause of insomnia.

Research worldwide indicates that even exposure to low levels of non-ionizing radiation, like radio-cellular waves, can lead to health problems, including insomnia. The impact depends on the amount and intensity of radiation exposure and each individual's sensitivity. These studies found decreased melatonin—our sleep hormone—in adults (ages 18-91) after short-term exposure to GSM mobile radiation levels between 0.1 to 0.5 milliwatts per square meter. Additionally, reports include headaches, neural issues, and concentration problems (Hutter 2006).

It is crucial to understand that all cell phones emit radio-cellular radiation during active calls at levels between 1 to 1800 milliwatts per square meter (depending on the phone type). Without active calls, only smartphones emit radiation at 1-50 milliwatts per square meter or more due to numerous active apps absent in kosher phones. Wise use of different mobile devices is essential, including reducing call time, limiting body contact, and certainly not sleeping by them unless they are off or in airplane mode (as the health ministry advises on its website). Mobile phones, cordless home phones, wireless internet (WIFI), smart home gadgets, and more—all release radio-cellular radiation. Cautious use is highly recommended, especially for children who are more vulnerable to its harmful effects (Tip: At home, forward mobile calls to a traditional, wired landline).

Additionally, melatonin plays numerous roles: relaxing the body from stress, preventing depression, and regulating our immune system. It is an excellent antioxidant, preventing free radicals from harming us and causing diseases, including cancer. Therefore, maintaining balanced melatonin levels is vital for protecting our and our children's health from various diseases.
