Fenugreek is used in many countries as a food plant and spice, as well as a medicinal herb. It has a widespread traditional use as an herb with properties for effective diabetes treatment. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its hypoglycemic activity and potential to reduce peripheral neuropathy.

The hypoglycemic action is attributed to the galactomannan and saponins in the seeds, which reduce the absorption of glucose and cholesterol and contribute to increased bile secretion. Additionally, the amino acid leucine found in the plant has shown a stimulating effect on insulin secretion in the body.

Fenugreek seeds balance fasting and postmeal blood glucose levels, as well as hemoglobin A1C. Controlled clinical studies have shown improvement in blood sugar indices in Type 1 diabetes patients, along with reductions in cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Fenugreek seeds are highly nutritious. They contain a complex of vitamins, such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, B vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Fenugreek is highly recommended for general strengthening, particularly during recovery from illness and postpartum. A clinical study examining the effect of drinking 3 cups of a fenugreek seed-based infusion on nursing mothers found that the plant significantly increased milk production. Therefore, fenugreek seeds are recommended for treating milk insufficiency, general support during breastfeeding, and postpartum strengthening.

You can prepare a fenugreek salad from 2 tablespoons of coarsely ground seeds. Soak the seeds in water, changing the water four times, every half hour. Then add two cloves of garlic, half a bunch of cilantro (free of insects), and half a cup of water, and blend everything in a blender - and voila, a nutritious and tasty salad, without the smell.

Gymnema

Gymnema leaves have been used in Indian medicine for around 2,000 years to treat sugar, support pancreatic function, and ensure proper insulin production. This activity is attributed to the saponin content in the plant. Additionally, it contains a component that helps regulate the craving for high-sugar foods and reduces appetite, improves blood lipid levels, and increases energy production processes from fats. It is also beneficial for maintaining a healthy body weight. Gymnema is available in capsules.
