Cavities, according to doctors, begin when bacteria break down food residues that haven't been removed from the mouth or are stuck between teeth. But is that truly the case? Is it only an external factor for the body? This is partly true, but there is another reason, possibly the primary one, which is internal: our daily diet and eating habits!

For instance, cooked food destroys many vitamins and minerals, and over the years, this leads to damage to gums and tooth structure due to nutritional deficiencies. In contrast, a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables, sprouted grains, and legumes throughout the week can yield remarkable results for both body and oral health.

Another example, a diet high in animal products increases acidity in the body, which over time results in calcium being leached from the teeth (calcium balances the acidity in the blood). On the other hand, a plant-based diet does the opposite.

Additionally, consuming a lot of empty carbohydrates, sweets, medications, etc., is also known to be harmful.

Furthermore, it's essential to chew food thoroughly (with lots of uncooked and non-soft foods) to strengthen the teeth - similar to how bone mass is built through physical exercises like foot stomping on the floor.

It's known that children who consume vegan diets are often not affected by cavities! Conversely, children who have an excessive intake of carbohydrates and candies during the week are found with crowns, fillings, and advanced tooth decay—reflecting their diet. I can personally attest that many people who started eating healthier have not developed new cavities and almost don't need a dental hygienist (from personal experience). About two years ago, I met a patient from Ethiopia who told me that as a child, she mostly consumed a vegan diet with minimal food and brushed her teeth with a special tree branch. She didn't see doctors or dentists until the age of 27 when she moved to a city. Naturally, in the city, she changed all her healthy lifestyle to a typical urban one, with poor nutrition, and the consequences became evident. Various diseases began to emerge, along with visits to doctors accordingly.

Brushing teeth is also crucial for their maintenance and gum health, so it's highly recommended to use natural-based toothpaste, free from petroleum residues, bleaching agents, and other harmful substances. Explore various natural food stores.

Don't fear dental bacteria; fear the junk food.
