#VALUE!
Though it might taste bitter and unappealing to most, Dr. Michael Greger, an American physician, showcases a new study that makes it clear: this drink could greatly benefit your vascular health and detoxify your arteries.
This concoction consists of five ingredients that are likely in your kitchen right now.
Ginger, garlic, lemon, apple cider vinegar, and honey.
"The first three ingredients—ginger, garlic, and lemon—are a 'powerhouse' with tremendous benefits for our arteries," explains Dr. Greger. He notes that numerous studies have shown these foods contain compounds that prevent blood clotting and arterial blockages. "That’s also why they, particularly ginger, excel at artery expansion," he adds. "Garlic and lemon also aid in lowering blood pressure and prevent arteriosclerosis (artery hardening)."
An extensive study investigating the influence of lemons on the arteries found that the high levels of vitamin C facilitate efficient cleansing of blood circulation from various toxins, also reducing bad cholesterol levels in the body. Lower bad cholesterol contributes to reduced blood clots.
And what about apple cider vinegar? Interestingly, research points to a unique compound in apple cider vinegar called chlorogenic acid. This potent antioxidant helps burn not only body fat but also fights free radicals that contribute to vascular and other diseases.
Honey is added mainly to make the drink palatable, given the strong, unfavorable flavors of the other ingredients. Yet honey itself boasts amazing antioxidants that affect our vascular system, though it should be consumed in moderation.
So how do you prepare this drink to cleanse your arteries? In a bowl of boiling water, mix:
Half of a fresh ginger, grated (including the juices)
Juice from half a freshly squeezed lemon
2 cloves of finely grated garlic
Half a cup of apple cider vinegar
Quarter cup of honey
Allow the mixture to cool, then drink a quarter cup daily for a week.
