If you're on a diet, the struggle is real: the temptation to grab a snack or indulge in some ice cream is ever-present. Who among us wouldn't be tempted by some junk food if it were healthy? The health portal "The Doctor" has compiled a list of 10 foods you should definitely avoid, especially if you're watching your diet. Here's the scoop.

1. Foods and pastries containing puff pastry: "Foods based on puff pastry are fattening and packed with empty calories. Think malawach, jachnun, bourekas, and pastries, whether sweet or savory, made with puff pastry or doughs loaded with butter and margarine."

2. Sugary drinks: "Sweetened fizzy drinks, fruit juices, energy drinks, and flavored coffees often contain significant amounts of added sugars and empty calories. They contribute to weight gain and can harm your health."

3. Ice cream: "Despite its taste and its perception as a dairy-based treat that seems harmless, ice cream is full of sugars and fats that contribute to weight gain. It's loaded with empty calories and offers minimal nutritional value."

4. Pizza: "Both commercial pizzas and homemade pizzas typically have plenty of sugary sauces and are topped with high-calorie fatty cheeses. Moreover, the fats in pizza are saturated and unhealthy, and pizzas contain a lot of sodium. Additionally, the crust comprises empty carbohydrates, lacks nutrition, and is fattening."

5. Processed meats like sausages, deli meats, and burgers: "Foods like sausages, cold cuts, and processed meats such as burgers are often high in unhealthy fats, sodium, and additional high-calorie and fatty ingredients, with harmful empty carbohydrates."

6. Butter and margarine, high-fat and sugary sauces: "Fats in margarine, high-sugar and high-fat sauces, and butter may add flavor and tempt you to add them to meals or even spread them on bread, but they're caloric, fattening, devoid of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, can be harmful, and should be consumed sparingly."

7. Sweets like candies, chocolates, and desserts: "These treats, including delicacies, tend to be rich in added sugars, unhealthy fats, and empty calories. These are heavily processed foods. They provide little nutritional value, and it's recommended to avoid them to preserve health, teeth, and weight."

9. Alcohol: "Alcoholic beverages like liqueurs, whiskey, vodka, and spirits in general contain empty calories and can contribute to weight gain, alongside other harm they cause to our bodies."

10. Breakfast cereals and snacks: "Many breakfast cereals and snacks like energy bars, wafers, salty and sweet snacks, are full of added sugars, fattening, and lack essential nutrients."
