To slow the natural aging of skin, plastic surgeon from California, Dr. Faryan Jalalabadi, shares that using a dry sauna every day can help delay skin aging.
In a video—which has reached over a million views—Dr. Jalalabadi explains that “the sauna stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and cleanses the skin through sweating.”
A sauna is a steam or dry heat room with high temperatures that promote sweating. The heat typically ranges between 80°C and 110°C (176°F–230°F). Dr. Jalalabadi emphasized that despite the intense heat, saunas offer significant health benefits, such as improving heart and lung health, and increasing blood circulation to the skin. However, he cautioned that 15 to 20 minutes is more than enough to gain these benefits.
He also warned that high sugar intake negatively impacts the skin and can lead to fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, uneven texture, and more. Additionally, Dr. Jalalabadi claims that strength training may slow the aging process, explaining that “weightlifting causes tiny tears in the muscles, which stimulate the release of growth hormone, helping repair cells throughout the body, including the skin.”
