A study conducted at the University of Cambridge in London has linked magnesium deficiency to high levels of anxiety and stress.
To significantly raise your magnesium levels and reduce the intensity and frequency of anxiety, eating a green vegetable salad every day is a terrific way to start. Lentils and soy (tofu) are also excellent sources of magnesium and can be added to the salad for a perfect boost.
Ingredients for a magnesium-rich salad:
A variety of fresh, clean lettuces (ensure they’re insect-free)
Sunflower sprouts
Mint, basil, or cilantro—or all three (remember: the greener, the better)
Steamed broccoli
Steamed green beans
A bit of cooked bulgur
A few cubes of tofu
Cooked green lentils
Seasoning:
¼ cup olive oil, salt and black pepper to taste, a little crushed garlic, vinegar or lemon juice, and a touch of natural sweetener like honey or agave.
Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy (and don’t forget to say the blessing “Borei Pri Ha'adama”).
