Think your memory is fading 'just because'? Think again. A Boston doctor has delved into brain health over recent years, presenting new research from the prestigious Harvard University, revealing why some people remain sharp as a 'tack' even as they age, while others struggle to recall names, dates, or even what was said at yesterday's Torah study.
The doctor, Dr. George Kranthisis, says, "Memory problems are often caused by the food you eat or don't eat. Your brain requires fuel to generate new brain cells, remember, and focus on tasks. Where does it get this fuel? From the food you eat."
The doctor adds that due to drastic changes in modern dietary habits, "Most of us are not getting the nutrients our brains need, and the lack of these nutrients can certainly result in brain fog, forgetfulness, or even worse."
After extensive research, Dr. K (as he shortens his name) developed a simple protocol that can help combat memory loss on this basis. "People constantly tell me, I feel much smarter and sharper, and even my family has noticed the change in me."
What are the two worst foods for your brain health that you should avoid like the plague? Any foods containing trans fats, like margarine. Research shows that not only do they cause irreversible damage to the brain, but they also lead to heart and vascular diseases and dementia.
The second harmful food category includes all junk food, which encompasses alcoholic beverages, white sugar and flour (and their products), fried foods, and high-fat foods.
