Every morning is a fresh start. How does your morning routine look? By simply cutting out 5 straightforward habits, you'll see a positive difference in how your day begins.
1. Stop Snoozing That Alarm
Are you the type who tries to squeeze in just a bit more sleep, or do you rise early and take your time, maybe even having a drink before heading out? It's clear that rushing does not set the best tone for the day. Aim to wake up an hour earlier to get ready without stress.
Avoid pressing the snooze button. You're only too easy on yourself, slipping back into interrupted sleep cycles, leading to irritability and tension throughout the day. Make an effort to get up with the first alarm.
2. Don’t Brush Right After Morning Coffee
Though it might seem logical to brush your teeth after eating or drinking in the morning, it's not the best idea. According to the Mayo Clinic, brushing right after meals can let sugars erode the enamel, especially if you've had acidic foods like citrus fruits. Wait at least 30 minutes to protect your teeth.

3. Skip the Hot Water Morning Shower
There's a common misconception that a morning shower energizes you for the day. However, a hot shower tends to relax your muscles, counteracting your goal of boosting energy levels. If you insist on showering in the morning, opt for cold water to give your body an energy jolt, not hot water.

4. Avoid Checking Notifications Right Away
Negative emotions are at their peak in the early hours. Checking emails, WhatsApp, or Facebook alerts only amplifies these feelings. Experts warn this habit increases the fear of missing out and the stress of staying updated. To maintain calm, keep some distance from notifications.

5. Don’t Skip Carbs at Breakfast
Did you know a study from Israel suggests that a breakfast rich in carbohydrates helps with dieting? Eating cookies or chocolate along with proteins and complex carbs in the morning can prevent sweet cravings later in the day, thanks to serotonin release that lowers carb cravings.
