If you're a morning tea enthusiast, this article is for you.

Past research has shown that sipping coffee on an empty stomach isn't ideal. Now, studies suggest that tea might not be the best morning choice either, as it could disturb the good bacteria in your gut, potentially leading to stomach upset.

Furthermore, experts point out other negative effects of drinking tea on an empty stomach:

1. It may inhibit the absorption of essential nutrients.

2. Known for its diuretic properties, tea could lead to severe dehydration if the body doesn’t get enough fluids.

3. Tea contains the chemical theophylline, which might lead to constipation.

4. Consuming tea early in the morning can disrupt the acid-base balance in the stomach.

These and other impacts have led nutrition experts to advise against drinking tea first thing in the morning. So what’s their suggestion? Start your day with a glass of water paired with fruit or a handful of nuts. If you're reluctant to change your routine, it’s advised to drink tea about 20 minutes after breakfast.
