The central Friday edition of Yedioth Ahronoth surprised its readers with an unexpected announcement. It stated: "This space is reserved for the most important news." Beneath this was a rare photograph of the Lubavitcher Rebbe with Judy Shalom Nir-Mozes, one of the owners of Yedioth Ahronoth.
Under the photo, the caption read: "The Rebbe during the historic instruction: 'Then prepare an empty space.'" Additionally, a QR code was provided, with the text above saying: "Scan the code for the full story and more information."
Scanning the QR code led to a video recording where Nir-Mozes recounts her visit to the Lubavitcher Rebbe's residence exactly 30 years ago: Sunday, the 8th of Tevet, 5752.
During her visit to the Rebbe in Crown Heights, New York, for the daily dollar-giving ceremony, Nir-Mozes asked for his blessing upon receiving a dollar from him. To her astonishment, the Rebbe told her: "Your agency is called 'Yedioth Ahronoth' which means 'Latest News.' In the end of days, our Righteous Messiah will come. Then prepare an empty space in the closest newspaper, as this very preparation will hasten his arrival, knowing that the announcement is ready will pave his way." The Rebbe handed Mrs. Nir-Mozes an additional dollar, "for the very last news, which is expected imminently."
Last weekend, 30 years after the Rebbe's directive, his words were fulfilled as the newspaper published that "This space is reserved for the most important news."
