A Walk to the Other Side: Dana's Near-Death Experience

It was a clear day when it happened. Dana collapsed after a blood vessel burst in her brain and was rushed to Laniado Hospital in Netanya, then transferred to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer.

Though she was unconscious, she vividly remembers transitioning to another realm during her near-death experience. "I walked along something like a tunnel and saw a triangular light at the end," she recalled in an interview with 'Ynet'. "I realized I was heading toward what is called the 'next world' and ascended easily. I felt as if I had no body, since my physical body was ill, and suddenly I felt like I was flying, as if I had wings."

Upon reaching that triangular light, she suddenly saw a table in front of her, surrounded by three men and two women dressed as judges. "We didn't speak to each other, it was like a kind of committee. Communication was through thought, a sort of telepathy. They told me: 'You've arrived, and now you must go back.'"

She didn't quite understand why she was there and why she needed to return, but she accepted it with a shrug, as if to say 'If you say so, then that's what I'll do'.

But then Dana experienced something unlike the light path. "I don't remember not wanting to return. They told me to return, so I listened, but going through that tunnel was very, very difficult. I barely managed to walk."

Returning to this world was tough and contrary to the lightness and optimism she felt moving toward the light. It is unclear whether this is connected or not, but one of the moments etched in her mind during that spiritual committee was a meeting with someone who told her she had to take care of her husband. "I didn't understand why he said that, but I promised him I would. Only later did I understand the reason: today, my husband has been gone for seven years. They knew, and I didn't. Usually, one is asked to look after their children, but they told me to look after my husband, and I didn't get why him specifically. Life sends us signs that we don't understand, only in hindsight, when something happens, but not at that moment."
