Less than a week after the tragic drowning of Elijah Magori-Cohen at Sheraton Beach, a student from the city of Safed shared an unusual dream. He recounted how Elijah appeared to him repeatedly, pleading, "I immersed in the Talnah mikvah without paying. Please pay for me."
The student approached Rabbi Yosef Kahana, who lives near the mikvah, to share the dream. Despite the late hour, Rabbi Kahana took the request seriously, understanding that Elijah's spirit was restless. He got out of bed and went to the Talnah mikvah to settle the seven shekels debt.
Rabbi Kahana remarked, "It's clear that in the heavenly court, the value of even a small debt matters greatly. This serves as a reminder to each of us to settle any outstanding debts."
Elijah Magori-Cohen tragically drowned on Friday while at the beach with friends. His body was later discovered floating by swimmers, who quickly alerted the nearby lifeguards to begin resuscitation efforts. His death was confirmed at the hospital, and he was laid to rest at the Yarkon cemetery on Friday evening, just as Shabbat began.
