Once upon a time in the United States, a young Jewish man was involved in a terrible car accident. Doctors, following their initial examination, grimly concluded that his condition was hopeless and that he only had a few hours left to live. After identifying him through his documents, they quickly summoned his sister living nearby. Upon seeing her brother's dire state, she broke down, sharing with tears in her eyes that they had an elderly father residing in a senior home. Without delay, they went to bring the father to his son's bedside to say goodbye one last time. On the way, they chose not to inform him of his son's critical state, not wanting to alarm him too much, preferring he see things for himself. Arriving at the hospital, the aged father stood by his son's bed. The young man lay unconscious. Yet, the father showed no signs of distress. He seemed at peace, calm, and entirely unshaken by the tragic scene before him.

Those present assumed he didn't grasp the severity of the situation. A doctor approached him and explained that his son had only a few hours left. Still, the father remained unfazed. Astonishingly, when asked for his thoughts, he replied, 'I'm going home. My son will recover. There's nothing to worry about. I'm sure he'll be healthy.'

Convinced the father had lost touch with reality, the onlookers pressed him further, 'Do you understand what's happening here? Do you realize how serious your son's condition is?'

The father responded once more, 'Yes, yes. It will be okay. He'll recover. There's no need for me here. I'm going home. My son will heal. Don't look at me strangely. Let me tell you why I'm so confident everything will turn out fine.'

'I am from Radin, the town of the Chofetz Chaim. When the Chofetz Chaim published his book, the "Mishnah Berurah," he gathered a group of laymen to study it, allowing him to see how it was received and understood. After all, he wrote it for them. I was part of that group. Several times I had the privilege to study "Mishnah Berurah" before him, and he found my learning pleasing. This great rabbi gave me two blessings: one for longevity - yet here I am at only seventy-six, not yet long-lived. The second blessing he gave to this Jewish man's children, was that they would not die in my lifetime.'

'Therefore, since I haven't yet achieved long life, how could both blessings come true if my son were to pass now? Surely, my son must recover. He will live, with Hashem's help. I have no doubt about it, so I am returning home, calm and collected, without concern.'

The father returned home, and the next day, the young man unexpectedly opened his eyes. Doctors, who had predicted his death the day before, were incredulous. Everyone stood, amazed by the great miracle. Upon examination, they immediately concluded he had a chance to survive. Indeed, two weeks later, he got out of bed and recovered.
