1. What Is the Cloud Train?
The Cloud Train is a nickname for a train that runs in Argentina, connecting the city of Salta to the mountain town of La Polvorilla in the Andes. The train travels very high, 4,200 meters above sea level! During a movie filming, the train let out steam, and the cold air froze it in place, making it look like the train was riding through clouds. That’s how it got its name.
2. What Is a Zebra Stone?
A zebra stone is a rare rock made of two materials, jasper (a kind of quartz) and basalt. The mix of dark and light patterns makes it look just like a zebra. These special stones have only been found in Australia.
3. Why Do Leaves Fall Off Trees in Winter?
In the winter, trees can’t move food to their leaves as easily. The leaves weaken and fall off, helping the tree save energy. When spring comes and the sun shines more, the tree uses that energy to grow fresh new leaves.
4. Who’s the Best Jumper in Nature?
The froghopper, a tiny insect related to the cicada, holds the record for the highest jump. It can jump up to 110 times its own body length! The flea comes in second, jumping up to 100 times its size.
5. What’s a Nubian Ibex?
The Nubian ibex is a wild mountain goat that lives in dry, rocky places like the Negev, Judean Desert, and Golan Heights in Israel. It has special hooves with soft pads that help it climb steep cliffs and rough rocks. Its sandy coloring helps it blend into the desert.
