  • Did You Know There Are Round Houses?
In the Netherlands, during the 1980s, people built round, ball-shaped houses to help lower housing costs. They’re made from cement and fiberglass, and the widest part is about 5.5 meters across. Even though they look small from the outside, they’re built on several levels and really catch people’s attention.

  • How Is Sugar Made?
The sugar we use at home comes from sugarcane or sugar beets. The sugarcane is crushed, and the beets are sliced. Then the juice is boiled, and sugar crystals begin to form. Once dried, those crystals are packaged and ready to sweeten your day.

  • Do All Mosquitoes Bite?
Nope! Only female mosquitoes bite. They need blood to help their eggs grow. Male mosquitoes don’t bite at all, they feed on the nectar of flowers and are completely harmless.

  • Where Did Marshmallows Come From?
Long ago in ancient Egypt, marshmallows were a fancy treat for royalty. They were made from the root of the marshmallow plant, mixed with corn syrup, whipped egg whites, and sugar. Today, we use gelatin or agar instead of the plant. The word “marshmallow” comes from the French word for “marsh” (where the plant grows) and the English word “mallow,” meaning soft.
