  • Did you know crosswalks existed almost 2,000 years ago? In the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, they placed large stones across the road so people could walk safely without stepping in the mud and water. It’s a lot like today’s crosswalks!

  • Do you know which planet has the most moons? That would be Saturn! So far, 62 moons have been found around it. The biggest and best known is Titan.

  • Did you know aluminum used to be more valuable than gold? In the 1800s, it was very hard to get aluminum out of the ground, so it cost a lot. Napoleon III of France even served important guests on aluminum plates! Today, it’s cheap and easy to find.

  • Which musical instrument was once used to send messages? The alphorn, a long wooden horn, was used by Swiss shepherds to call to each other across the mountains. Now it’s mostly played during festivals and celebrations.

  • What animal helped us create sonar? Sonar is a way of using sound to "see" underwater. We learned it from animals like bats, whales, and dolphins, who naturally use sound to get around.

  • Did you know there’s trash floating in space? Sometimes astronauts accidentally lose tools or other items in space. These bits of “space junk” float around and can be dangerous if they hit something important. That’s why there are special efforts to track and avoid them.

  • Why are people afraid of the dark? It’s not really the dark itself, it’s the not knowing what’s there. When we can’t see, we feel less in control, and that can be scary.
