Top 5 Gifts Teachers Really Want

With summer break approaching and another school year coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to show appreciation for teachers with a thoughtful gift. But what do teachers really want to receive? A fascinating survey from an American website reveals surprising preferences.

#VALUE!

As the school year wraps up, many of us start pondering the usual question: What should we get for teachers? Another mug, plant, or candle? Instead of recycling old ideas, an American website offers insights straight from teachers themselves. They conducted a comprehensive survey and discovered what gifts teachers really want (hint: it's not body lotion). Ready for some surprising answers?

1. Gift Cards

The top-rated gift in the survey was gift cards for stores and chains. In the U.S., Amazon and Target are preferred, but any card for popular clothing, home goods, or footwear chains will do. Many teachers appreciate the ability to choose for themselves, instead of receiving less useful gifts. Makes sense.

2. Relaxation and Indulgence Gifts

Thanks to their busy and demanding days, teachers overwhelmingly favored massage and spa vouchers. These gifts offer a chance for teachers to take a break and enjoy moments of relaxation and tension release—exactly what they need.

3. Useful Classroom Supplies

Surprisingly, and perhaps because the survey was conducted in the U.S., teachers highlighted a need for basic classroom supplies like pens, pencils, erasers, sticky notes, and glue. Supplies diminish throughout the year, so useful classroom items are always appreciated. Though for Israeli teachers, you might want to skip this one.

4. Personal Thank You Notes

Ranking fourth in importance, personal thank you notes are a simple yet profoundly meaningful gift. Many teachers mentioned that the most touching gifts are letters expressing appreciation and respect for their hard and dedicated work. These letters are often kept as cherished keepsakes and remain in teachers’ hearts for many years. There's nothing like a kind word.

5. Experience Vouchers

Coming in fifth place were activity vouchers. Whether it’s a voucher for a craft workshop, museum visit, or show tickets, these gifts allow teachers to take a break from routine and enjoy a cultural or artistic experience. Our recommendation? Opt for a versatile voucher that offers a variety of shows and activities, rather than one specific event.
