Do You Hear the Difference? The Curious Case of Hot vs Cold Water
A viral TikTok video shows that you can hear a difference between pouring hot and cold water. Can you hear it too?

If you're a fan of TikTok trends, give this one a try: A user has uploaded a video demonstrating that it's possible to distinguish between hot and cold water without touching it. Amazingly, the video has garnered about 34 million views.
So, how does this intriguing phenomenon occur? According to this "researcher," there is a difference in the sound of hot and cold water when it's poured.
The TikToker uploaded a video where he holds two glasses of water - one hot and one cold.
He asked his viewers to close their eyes and listen to the difference in sound as the water is poured into a glass. Afterward, the viewers opened their eyes and tried again.
It turns out there's a scientific explanation: Cold water is more viscous than hot water, producing different sounds. Our ears can easily detect these differences in sound, and you can identify the distinction by the noise.
You could say that cold water bubbles less, with lower-pitched sounds. Hot water generates higher and louder sounds.
