In a heartfelt moment, Argentinian soccer broadcaster Hernan Feller made a passionate plea to the world during a match broadcast heard by millions: free the hostages taken to Gaza. Since the tragic events of October 7, Feller has used his platform to remind viewers of the horrors of that day, raising awareness with each game he covers.
In one of his recent broadcasts, Feller specifically called for the release of Ophelia Reutman, one of the kidnapped women—a woman who, it turns out, is his own relative. He has just received news of her release as part of the fifth stage of the hostage agreement. Throughout that day, he shared several updates on Instagram Stories, including a heartfelt message he sent her on October 7, asking after her well-being. He also shared an image of the ten women who were freed.
In another of his broadcasts, Feller highlighted the 22 Argentinians among the captured hostages, including Reutman, offering insight into how the Argentinian people are feeling. He urged his fellow Argentinians not to remain silent and to raise their voices to demand the return of the hostages.
"We continue to strongly condemn the terrorist organization Hamas," he declared on air. "There are 239 kidnapped people, 22 of whom are ours. 22 Argentinians. We need and demand that they return home, to their families, to their lives as they once knew them, as we do now. Don’t stay silent, amplify your voices. Don’t you feel guilt or shame for staying silent? To omit, to silence, is to cooperate. Bring Ophelia home."
