#VALUE!
We might think that all beggars are destitute and forlorn, but that might not be the case: Recently, a consistent beggar in India was named the "richest beggar in the world" after it was revealed that his fortune amounts to nearly a million dollars!
According to reports from the Economic Times, the beggar in question is a man named Jain, who has spent years wandering tourist hotspots in India, such as the city of Mumbai, asking for donations from passersby.
As is typical for a beggar, his appearance suggests poverty and neglect, but it has now been revealed that he has already managed to purchase a two-bedroom apartment worth $150,000, along with two shops that he rents out for $400 each month.
So yes, he works hard.
It isn't easy to roam the streets for 10 to 12 hours a day, in both sun and rain. However, when you earn nearly a thousand dollars every month by doing nothing but this, it's certainly bearable.
In a special video where he shares his life story, he says that his family has been trying for years to convince him to find a regular job and leave the begging business, but he consistently rejects their pleas and sticks to what he considers a legitimate job.
Although he's now famous and holds the title of "the richest beggar in the world", many online commentators have expressed their anger towards him, especially after he declared he has no intention of stopping. Comments like "There are beggars who have saved nothing and don't own a house. They should be given the money", "If you already have money, stop begging", and "This is exploiting the generosity of the donors. You have no right to do this" have been expressed online.
