#VALUE!
Remember the wooden bread box from childhood? If you were born in the late '70s, you surely can't forget the white bread your mom used to store in it. You probably also recall the legendary taste of the challah that almost never dried out.
Well, it likely did dry out eventually, but the freshness and taste of the bread are something I dearly miss from my childhood.
That's exactly why, when I saw this article recommending storing my baked challahs in none other than a wooden box (or a tin one, also common in some homes), I was thrilled.
Turns out, the wooden box hasn't vanished into the mists of time, and even today some people store their freshly baked legendary bread in it.
The best way to keep challah is, of course, by freezing it, but if you need it for daily use, wrap it in a cloth or paper bag and store it in the wooden or tin box with the lid closed. This way, with two layers of protection, it won't dry out quickly.
