Such is the story of Yasmin Markitan Amar from Ashkelon, who recently heard about a struggling family unable to feed their babies and was moved to make a difference which resonated across social media.

As an expectant mother herself, Amar said she couldn't bear to see the family's distress and stay indifferent to the fact that the innocent babies might go hungry. She dashed to her nearby supermarket and filled two massive carts with dozens of packs of diapers and baby formula, so another family's heart might find a moment of joy.

Well, in her hometown of Ashkelon, Amar is known as an extraordinary philanthropist who assists needy families by running a large grocery store where the products are free for families registered with her organization. "I had a tough childhood. I was a boarding school kid who went home during breaks and couldn't find what I needed," Markitan Amar shared a few months ago on Channel 13's morning show when her wonderful initiative first launched. "With the high cost of living, we decided to do something a bit different to bring joy to families and individuals."
