A Miracle in London: Newborn Rescued from Bushes, Thousands Volunteer to Adopt

London: Thousands have volunteered to adopt a newborn recently found wrapped in a knitted blanket, wearing a gray wool cap.

The baby was discovered "abandoned" in a bush along the road, 12 hours after birth. The discovery was made by a mail carrier who passes this road every day and claims to "know every corner of it."

The mail carrier recounted his usual route on a Shabbat when he suddenly heard a baby's cry coming from the road. "It was unbelievable, so I went up to check it out. The closer I got to the source of the sound, the more it sounded like a baby. Initially, I just thought it was a puppy stuck in the road needing rescue. I never 'dreamed' I would find a newborn there."

"I can't imagine what's going through a mother's mind or what circumstances led her to this decision," the mail carrier said in an interview. "I'm not judging anyone, but there are ways to handle situations like this, and this certainly isn't the right one."

The media reported that so far the police have not been able to locate the mother, with many stating that "the mother needs to be found and face serious consequences, to prevent further cases like this."

The London police released a statement urging the mother to come forward, acknowledging her situation with offers of assistance, including financial help. "Please be assured you are not in trouble. Your child will be placed with a good foster family, under supervision, and you will be able to visit him. As a father myself, I understand how daunting parenthood can be at times, but your responsibility is to take action, not ignore it. Do what is right for your child, have mercy, and contact us."
