From City Life to a Rabbit Hole: A Lawyer's Unconventional Journey

In the depths of one of Russia's dense forests, a little-known secret is buried: a once-successful attorney who forsook city living and a thriving law practice to embrace life in... a rabbit hole.

The accomplished lawyer, Yuri by name, recounts how he left everything behind, even his closest friends and family, choosing instead to reside beneath the earth. 'I hated my job, and there wasn't a single day I didn't wish to walk away. I lived in the city like everyone else, worked and rented an apartment, but I couldn't find myself there.'

So one day, without any prior warning, he simply decided to get up and leave.

'I severed all ties, even with my family. I traveled far away, just wanting to distance myself from everything. Initially, I lived in a tent because I wanted to return to nature.'

Yet the Moscow winters presented Yuri with a real challenge: his tent couldn't withstand the winds and rains, forcing him to think of a more creative and affordable solution.

'I had to dig into the ground and build a small house, which wasn't that hard. After all, my house isn't very big.' He explains that his rabbit, who accompanied him on his journey back to nature, inspired him to construct his natural abode from mud, stones, straw, and clay. Over the years, Yuri expanded his home to include several rooms, a kitchen, and essential features like a wood-burning stove.

In the snow, when it's too cold to trek to a nearby stream with a bucket, he simply fills his bucket with snow. Outside the burrow, solar panels help him maintain some connection to civilization. 'My home is where I feel good, and it doesn't matter what others think.' Although Yuri retired from law, he now works as a librarian at a unique library he opened near his home in a popular tourist area. 'I have thousands of books, so I built a special caravan to store all my books, and people can simply come and choose what they like for free.'
