#VALUE!
Ingeborg McIntosh fostered Jordan, who is Black, from birth. For four years, she tried to convince his biological mother to let her adopt him, but the mother wanted him placed with a Black family.
When no one else showed interest, Ingeborg finally received permission and began the adoption process. "They placed him in my arms, and it was love at first sight," she said.
Over the years, Ingeborg fostered 125 children, but none captured her heart like Jordan. Though not her biological son, she raised him with love and devotion. "He was family, no matter what," said Ingeborg.
Nearly three decades later, Ingeborg received terrible news: she had polycystic kidney disease and needed a transplant. Jordan decided he couldn't stand by and watch his mother suffer. Unbeknownst to her, he took action.
Jordan scheduled tests to see if he could donate his kidney to her. To his joy, the tests showed a match. "It felt like my life's peak," Jordan said. "I hope to do more for her when I'm older, but for now, at least I can do this."
Ingeborg insisted Jordan not go through with it, but he was determined. "I couldn't ask for a better son," she tearfully said. "For all she's done for me since I was born, I just wanted to repay her and show her how much I love and appreciate her," Jordan said.
The surgery was successful, and they share their story to show it's never too late to give back to those we cherish.
