Are the World's Oldest Pyramids Hidden in Antarctica?

Conspiracy theorists claim that there are hidden pyramids scattered throughout the world, some of which are concealed in Antarctica, home to the South Pole. They discussed a pyramid-like structure near the Shackleton mountain range in the icy continent. This intriguing pyramid was spotted in satellite images, and this peculiar theory was featured in a History Channel TV show that explores various unusual theories.

In the show's first episode, they explored the possibility that these secret pyramids were left behind by ancient aliens or by diverse human cultures. David Childress, a conspiracy theory book author, suggested that the Shackleton pyramid could potentially be the oldest of its kind on Earth. "If this giant pyramid in Antarctica is artificial, it could possibly be the oldest pyramid on Earth and, in fact, might be the original pyramid, with all other pyramids intentionally designed to look like it," said Childress.

Another theorist concurred with Childress, stating, "Across the world, we find evidence of pyramid structures. We should start considering the possibility of past habitation in Antarctica."

A popular pyramid conspiracy among theorists argues that these triangular structures serve as power generators, supposedly built to transmit vast amounts of energy wirelessly. However, despite these outlandish and unfounded theories, Dr. Mitch Darcy, a geologist at the German Research Centre for Humanities in Potsdam, contested the idea, asserting that it is not a pyramid but rather a nunatak. "The peaks are clearly composed of rock, and it's coincidental that this particular peak has such a shape. It's not a complicated shape, so it's not a special coincidence," Darcy explained, adding, "By definition, it is a nunatak, which is simply a rocky peak protruding above a glacier or ice sheet. It's pyramid-shaped, but that doesn't make it a human construction."
