#VALUE!
The story that's shocking Australia: A mother of three, Chiara, was startled awake in the middle of the night by the voice of an unknown man she heard in her baby's room.
Chiara shared with the local site KIDSPOT that it had been just another ordinary night after an especially tiring day when she and her partner went to bed. "Everything was dark and silent until suddenly I heard a deep male voice I didn't recognize from anyone in the house. He said, 'Hmm... what a cute baby.' I was so terrified, I shook my husband awake and squeezed his hand in panic, until he got up."
A few days earlier, Chiara had heard strange noises coming from her baby monitor, but she assured herself everything was fine and it was probably the crib moving every time her baby shifted.
"We Disconnected the Monitor Right Away and Uninstalled the App"
When her husband, Daniel, woke up, he was convinced a stranger, possibly a burglar, had entered the house. "He began checking all the rooms, but I told him it was just in the baby's room, because I was sure I heard the voice through the monitor."
After Daniel checked all the rooms, including the nursery, and found nothing, they realized someone had hacked their monitor via the app installed on their phone. "Before purchasing this monitor, I watched countless YouTube videos and read numerous reviews to find the best device. I eventually chose one from the Mirabella brand."
"We set a password on the app, a very complicated one, to prevent anyone from accessing our camera. That's why we were surprised someone managed to hack it anyway. We immediately disconnected the monitor and uninstalled the app when we realized someone had actually hacked into our monitor. I didn’t want to even think about the dangers of such people watching my baby."
This distressing incident led the couple to contact the store where they bought the monitor, but they have yet to receive a satisfactory response from the store's managers regarding the breach.
"I am not surprised that the baby monitor was hacked by hackers," said Dennis Desmond, a cybersecurity lecturer, in an interview with the 'Daily Mail'. According to him, the company that manufactures these monitors is quite vulnerable. However, Mirabella stated that they possess a certification that meets all required standards and said that they have never been informed of similar incidents happening before.
