Yehuda Barkan has gone to a better world.

Some may think that Yehuda Barkan, who has passed on, missed out because he was more dedicated to his faith later in life than to his film career. But the final analysis proves otherwise. Life is transient and short, while that which follows is eternal.

During life, we cling to a certain ego that becomes our essence. The problem is this ego only conceals our true nature. Life plays a fleeting game with us. If we can't look beyond our ego, life's value diminishes. Being a spectator in our own lives is the great secret of those who achieve enlightenment and happiness. We all wish for happy, successful lives filled with only good things. But life is complex and includes bad as well. Life's very essence is a mix of opposites, without which life wouldn't exist. Yet our ego deceives us into believing that success is the only option, leading us to judge, condemn failure, and deny life itself. We forget life is infinite and in infinity there is no failure. Some people become blind to their own lives, unable to filter out negative thoughts that their ego clings to through judgment and disdain. Outwardly they seem happy and shining, but inside they are ruined and afraid. Their ego becomes a burden, and they collapse beneath it.

Thus, Yehuda Barkan's passing, after discovering his essence, is a good death, and in truth, not a death at all, but a journey to eternity! Yehuda Barkan understood that we have the choice to believe in good and live well, or not... Just like making a film, we create our own lives.

Yehuda Barkan, may you rest in peace.

It's unimaginable and we will never forget how, in the 80s, you would visit my grandfather, Rabbi Mashav Ben Mocha of blessed memory, to receive his blessing when we were children. It was nice. May your memory be eternally blessed, amen.
