It all happened four days ago, around 9 AM U.S. time.
Officer Erica Urrea was on patrol in the area of Lodi Avenue in California when she suddenly spotted an elderly man in a wheelchair who seemed to be trapped on the tracks.
From afar, she also noticed the barriers were lowering—a signal of an approaching train. "I immediately got out of the patrol car and started running towards the man," she recalls. With her was another patrol officer, who joined her in the sprint.

"Although reaching him felt like an eternity, I somehow managed to get to him just seconds before the train passed, and I pulled him off the track," she recounts.
In a video captured by Urrea's partner, Officer Delgado, the two are seen falling to the ground in panic as the train zooms past them. "The 66-year-old man was taken to the hospital for medical treatment," the officers recount. "We are relieved that he is okay and that his life was saved."
"Officer Urrea risked her life to save another's, preventing a tragedy today," said colleagues at the local police department. "We are immensely proud of Officer Urrea and Officer Delgado for their bravery and heroism."
