We all dream of hitting the jackpot in the lottery, but what is a cash prize compared to the gift of life? This might just be one of the most incredible stories we've ever heard. When John and Allison McDonald from County Durham, England, won a staggering £2 million (equivalent to $2.6 million) in the lottery draw just two months ago, they couldn't believe their luck had turned to such an extent.
"I checked my ticket during a work break," John recalls in an interview with the BBC. "I thought I might have matched maybe two numbers, but when I saw that I hit all six, my legs started to shake."
However, the exhilaration of their immense lottery win paled in comparison to the joy that blessed them just two days later. "Our son Ivan, aged 15, was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer about a year ago and has undergone a long, painful series of chemotherapy treatments. When we went with him to the hospital for a routine check-up that day, everything seemed normal. We didn't expect to receive another amazing piece of news," the parents recall.
The incredible news reported that the dangerous tumors in their son's body had vanished, and he was now a healthy person. "Allison and I never believed this could happen to us, becoming the happiest people within three days," John explains with a grin that never leaves his face.
"What a way to start 2020. What more could we ask for?" Allison concludes.
