Slime, the trendy toy that kids are so excited about these days, has become a real headache for parents, and not without reason. Besides the fact that it's made from dangerous and toxic materials—borax being just one of them—it's extremely difficult to remove from clothing.
Most types of slime are made from a mixture of glue, shaving foam, hair conditioners, and various laundry detergents containing the deadly borax—exposure to which has caused poisonings and even severe burns among babies, children, and even adults.
You can read more about the dangers of slime in the following article, but if your kids have managed to sneak some slime home and it's now stuck to their clothes, here's how you can effectively remove it:
1. Use a dull knife to scrape off as much of the slime as possible from the clothing.
2. Soak the garment in a bowl with synthetic vinegar (also known as white vinegar) or baking soda for five minutes.
3. Wash the clothing thoroughly with hot water.
4. Place the garment in the washing machine (or wash by hand, depending on the fabric type) and launder as usual.
