A week after the video featuring his wife made headlines again, Herzl speaks out for the first time, saying repeatedly, "It's very embarrassing, and I have no opinion on it."

According to him, ever since the clip surfaced in the media in 2013, people haven't stopped asking him about its meaning. "They keep asking: what is this, what is this... It's annoying too. Things like this shouldn't be posted. Anyone walking on the street can be filmed, and then people can do what they want with the footage, whether they're guilty or not. If someone can take this video down, I'd be very grateful," he said.

Journalist Stefan Borg explained that the incident started when he and his crew were sent to cover the elections in Israel in 2013. "We intended to film near the Western Wall, and when the woman passed by, I thought it was such a funny situation and asked the cameraman to save the video so we could watch it again later," he recounted.

However, even he didn't imagine it would somehow end up in the wrong hands. "We had a blooper show on the channel, and this clip got included there. Not much happened afterward, but years later, a major Swedish channel showed the clip again in a comedy show," Borg told Mako in an interview this week, adding that he was very surprised when the footage resurfaced on social media in Israel.

And how did the Israeli internet community respond to the embarrassing situation? Despite several voices claiming it's okay to laugh at the situation and that it's not public shaming, it turns out most users actually condemn the shaming and call for more awareness about the harm done to the woman and her family.

"People Need to Be More Human"

"They harmed the woman and her family for no wrongdoing on their part - shameful. The public laughing at the woman is a herd of beasts," commented 'Haifa Resident'. "The media is a destructive tool, and so are social media networks. Impudence. Just because there's a camera, does it mean people need to be careful? No. They should be careful and respect privacy. My heart goes out to Herzl, who must feel humiliated and angry. He's right in everything he says," said 'Israeli'.

"It's very shameful and embarrassing, and it's worth a lawsuit. People need to be more human. No one would want to be filmed in an embarrassing way and have it spread all over the world," wrote someone who called themselves 'The Wall,' while Linor added, "The clip was shared five years ago, and they still haven't filed a lawsuit."

Thus, more and more reactions echoed the same sentiment: "To everyone who shared and laughed - it only shows how selfish and evil you are. It could be next time someone’s mother or grandmother, so let's respect our elders," wrote Linor.

"Social media has turned this generation into a garbage generation. Everyone is fighting for ridiculous likes, not caring about trampling others for virtual thumbs up. A despicable generation," commented Kuki.

"He's right, be ashamed of the shaming and jokes you made. This is the answer to those who think it's a joke - the woman's husband, and probably the woman too, don't like it. Think twice before you share a video and laugh at someone for no reason. No one would want that done to their mother or grandmother," wrote someone who was "disgusted".
