It was just another routine shift at the local restaurant in Portland, Maine, when waitress Kaylee Keir stumbled upon a massive envelope filled with cash on one of her tables.
The customer, Glenn Morse, was a regular at the restaurant, and Kaylee immediately sensed something was off about the hefty tip she received. "Despite the initial thrill, I realized there was a chance Glenn simply forgot the money," Kaylee recalled in an interview with ABC News.
Inside the envelope were 17 $100 bills—totaling $1,700. "I instantly suspected it was intended for her business expenses, which I knew she had," Kaylee explained. We often hear stories about servers receiving huge tips, but once I saw Glenn's name on the envelope, I knew this wasn't one of those cases."
Kaylee sprinted outside and caught Glenn just as she was getting into her car. As expected, Glenn was stunned when Kaylee handed her the envelope. "I was so surprised because, just as easily, she could have taken the envelope, hidden it somewhere, and claimed she hadn't found anything after I left," remarked the grateful customer.
Glenn immediately offered to reward her with a substantial amount of money, but "she wasn't looking for a reward or praise. She just wanted to do the right thing, and that was enough for her," Glenn said with a smile, adding, "It shows there are still kind people in our world."
