Young Man's Request Stuns a Café, Then His Dad Steps In

When Lucy Khatami walked into the café with her eight-month-old son, she didn't anticipate the unfolding drama shortly thereafter. Her son began to cry and threw a bit of a tantrum. "I tried to calm him in every possible way, but nothing seemed to work," she recalls. "I felt my stress levels rise while trying to soothe him and deal with the accusatory glances from the other patrons."

Most diners merely gave looks of sympathy or annoyance, but a young man chose to voice his frustration, shouting at her, "Could you quiet that 'thing'?"

Hearing him, Lucy felt herself breaking. But then, an unexpected defense came. It was none other than the young man's father, who had just entered the café and witnessed the scene. Upon hearing his son's remark, he approached him and said loudly, "What do you think, you're perfect? You were a little child once, and no less of a crybaby," he said to his son and smiled at the embarrassed mother. "I'm sorry, they are still young," he apologized for his son's behavior.

To Lucy, this gesture made her day. "Great job, Dad. Parenthood isn't easy for anyone, and you taught me that even after 20 years - our role as parents never ends," she wrote on her Facebook page, adding: "Because of you, I learned today how important it is to open our eyes and especially our hearts when we encounter things that don't sit well with us, things that disturb us and make us want to change them."

"Because of you, I learned the importance of being sensitive to others and not 'throwing' our difficulties onto them as it's the easiest way to deal with it. Because of you, I learned how important it is to educate children properly so they grow up to be tolerant adults towards others," she concluded.
