If you've recently considered buying a new kippah for one of your kids and have some extra money—quite a lot of it—you might want to look into purchasing the world's most expensive kippah, which is priced at $167,000.
This luxurious kippah was designed by an artist named Toks Daniel. It features over 3,500 sparkling Swarovski crystals, with its crowning jewel being a flawless 2-carat diamond. Yes, a diamond on a kippah. Why should engagement rings have all the fun?
Daniel took 14 days to plan and craft this kippah: each Swarovski crystal had to be meticulously placed in its designated spot. He also collaborated with one of London's renowned jewelers to acquire the perfectly cut diamond that sits at the center of the Star of David on the kippah.
Originally from Nigeria, this is Daniel's first creation associated in any way with Judaism. "As a child in Nigeria, Jews seemed quite exotic to me," he shares. "But since then, I've been increasingly exposed to Judaism and Jews, and the more I learn about them, the more I'm drawn to the rituals, principles, and aesthetics of Judaism. Designing this kippah is my way of expressing my fascination with Judaism."
Daniel has promised that if the kippah sells, he will donate $1,330 of the proceeds to Chabad of Nigeria.
