This heartwarming story dates back to 1946, a year after the end of World War II. Twins George and Lucien were born in a German hospital to a mother of Polish descent, who was liberated from a labor camp two years prior.

After the birth, their mother fell desperately ill and could not care for her two sons. Consequently, they were sent to Poland, where they were adopted by two different families. As time passed, the boys grew up unaware of each other’s existence as twins. Yet, deep inside, they always felt, "Something's missing in my life, but I don't know what."

Lucien lived his entire life in Poland, unaware he was adopted and that he had a twin brother. At age 17, after feeling a profound sense of something missing all his life, he came across a document revealing his adoption and existence of a twin brother. "It was my dream to find my brother, but I didn’t know how to do it alone," he recalls.

He reached out to the 'Red Cross', but after several months of searching on their part, Lucien received a reply that the efforts had been in vain, and they couldn’t locate his brother.

Meanwhile, the years passed, and George moved to the United States, yet he held onto the hope that one day the emotional reunion with his brother would happen. "When I heard from my biological mother that I was adopted and had a brother somewhere in the world, it gave me the courage to start looking for him. It wasn’t easy, but with the help of various organizations, I finally located George."

Asked shortly before the reunion how he felt, Lucien shared, "In my heart, I always felt I had a brother, and that it couldn’t be that I’m an only child. I don’t care about the lottery or any wealth in the world. I just want to meet my brother, hug him in a never-ending embrace, and never part again."

"When I discovered the truth about Lucien, I was extremely emotional," George recalls after their reunion. "For a while, I couldn’t stop crying. It was hard to believe I had a brother I hadn’t seen for 70 years."

"I don’t know how to express my gratitude," says Lucien. "I am so grateful to everyone who helped us and did not give up searching for George. I know that from today on, my life will be full and happy like it never was before."
