Mariam Nabatanzi from Uganda is only 39, yet she is the biological mother of 38 children from her husband.
"When I got married at 13, all I wanted was six children," she recalls in a special interview. "But after giving birth to my first set of twins, I realized that might not be possible."
Mariam suffers from a rare medical condition called ovulationhyper. What does that mean? Well, every time Mariam became pregnant, she gave birth to twins, triplets, or even quadruplets.
It might sound unbelievable, but the fact is that Mariam has given birth to six sets of twins, four sets of triplets, and three sets of quadruplets, not counting the other single births. And no, we didn't miscalculate. "I was supposed to have had 44 children, but six of my children died, leaving me with 38. Unfortunately, the father of my children left us on our own, but I do not see them as a burden and do not regret their birth. Despite the daily challenges, I see my children as a blessing, not a curse. I work several jobs and rely on neighbors and friends to raise my children, and I cannot accept giving children up for adoption or not bringing them into the world just because of some difficulty."
Mariam's oldest child is 23, while the youngest is four months old. Interestingly, out of all her children – only ten are girls, and the rest are boys. Additionally, in her triplets and quadruplets, there are non-identical twins.
