Here’s how to turn an old bus into a luxury apartment: a lavish bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining area styled like an American diner. And if you're wondering about the cost, it doesn't exceed $25,000.
Rick Hunt, a resident of New Jersey, USA, took a worn-out bus that was taken off the road and transformed it into a luxurious two-story living unit. It has everything you'd need.
The bus home costs around $25,000 (roughly 97,000 NIS), serving as an alternative housing solution that's gaining popularity due to rising housing prices, especially among those struggling with homelessness. Believe it or not, there's already a lot of interest.
In Israel, some have converted old buses from the state-owned Dan transportation company, which are no longer in use, into deluxe apartments, thus saving on both mortgage and expensive property taxes. Prices in Israel are a bit higher but still worthwhile (around 300,000 NIS per unit).
Some have turned these buses into fully equipped homes that can travel across the country. For example, Yoav Moshe from Hod HaSharon lives today in a bus—more accurately, a mini-bus—which is big enough for comfortable living, yet small enough to travel to isolated spots in nature.
Yoav shares the reactions he receives about this captivating trend: "Most of the reactions I get from people are similar. They say to me, 'Wow! I've dreamed of doing this for years!' So, this may sound a bit pretentious, but I don't really get them. For me, it wasn't a dream of years—it was a dream of just three months. I dreamed, and I did," Yoav Moshe says with a smile. And we can only suggest that you give it a try.
