Researchers from the University of California have developed a smart device capable of tracking physical occurrences such as rises in body temperature, increased heart rates, and sweating to alert couples in real-time about a potential conflict that is about to arise.
Lead researcher, Adele Simmons, explains that it is a 'smart' bracelet designed to identify quarrels and clashes between couples just before they actually occur. According to her, the bracelet is accurate about 90% of the time, and in all the tests conducted so far, it has rarely disappointed.
Many couples participated in the study, required to record their feelings towards their partner every hour. Researchers analyzed these recordings based on categories like speech intensity, location, and more, then integrated the gathered data into an advanced technological system.
In the next phase, researchers will attempt to develop additional devices that can predict conflicts between couples or different people about five minutes before they occur in reality.
